Indications for Cricothyrodotomy

Unable to intubate
Unable to ventilation, unable to give AMBU breathing
Injuries to face and nasal injuries
Obstruction of airway
Foreign Body in air way
Nasal Trauma,
Oral Trauma
Pharyngeal Trauma
Nasal Bleeding
Oral Bleeding
Pharyngeal Bleeding
Laryngospasm

Nursing management:

Secure in correct position,
Mo Maintain air flow with 100% Oxygen,
Monitors Spo2 and vitals continuously,
Periodically suctioning

Complications:

Inflammation and infection at wound site

Tracheoesophageal fistula

Important:
Check for placement of Tube auscultate for breath sounds for both side
